The skin is the largest and very important organ of the body. It has many functions. It prevents penetration of germs, bacteria and other harmful substances. It prevents dehydration. Your skin has three main layers. First of all there is the outermost layer of the skin, called Epidermis. Skin cells create in the bottom of the epidermis go to the tip, where they die and create a layer which is called basal skin layer. This layer is constantly renewed and provides a barrier against foreign elements.
Then there is the dermis layer which is the most active skin layer. It contains blood vessels, sweat and sebum glands, hair follicles and nerve endings. The sweat regulates the temperature of the skin. It cools the skin as it evaporates. The sebum is separated to create a barrier which protects the skin from dehydration. It is secreted into the hair follicles, and can cause problems when they get blocked, causing the appearance of pimples and blemishes.
The third main layer is the hypodermis, the fatty later of the skin. This can vary in thickness throughout the body and in different people. It keeps the body at the right temperature and acts as shock absorbent.

Dry Skin
Characteristics
• Thin and sensitive skin, prone to feeling stress.
• Dull skin with no shine.
• Very small pores and rare appearance of blemishes.

Oily skin

• No special problems, usually soft and silky.
• Regular sebum secretion.
Combination skin
Characteristics
• Sebum accumulation on the T-zone and dryer skin around the cheeks.
• In other cases the excess sebum accumulates around the chin, Jawline and Temple area.
• Medium sized pores.
• Overall healthy- looking skin, beside affected areas.
